The Alpha Governance Intelligence Quotient measures how prepared an individual director or executive is to govern AI. It is the assessment instrument behind the ACD.AI and ACE.AI credentials.
What AGIQ measures
AGIQ assesses individual governance preparedness across six dimensions, combining knowledge assessment with demonstrated application.
Scale
AGIQ is scored on a 0-200 quotient:
| Score range | Band | Label | Certification status |
|---|
| 160-200 | Expert | Alpha Certified Expert | ACE.AI credential issued |
| 120-159 | Advanced | Alpha Certified Director | ACD.AI credential issued |
| 80-119 | Competent | Developing | Not certified; development roadmap issued |
| 40-79 | Emerging | Foundational | Not certified; full curriculum recommended |
| 0-39 | Developing | Pre-Foundational | Not certified; foundational program required |
Everyone who takes the AGIQ assessment receives a score and a personalized development roadmap. There is no “fail.” Candidates scoring below 120 receive a clear path to certification through Alpha Institute learning modules.
Board-level aggregation
AGIQ scores can be aggregated across a board to produce the Alpha Board AI Readiness Score: a composite 0-200 score reflecting the board’s collective AI governance preparedness.
This allows Nominating/Governance Committees to:
- Identify specific AI governance skill gaps on the board
- Target director recruitment to fill those gaps
- Benchmark board readiness against peers
- Track readiness improvement over time
