What Alpha does
Alpha provides the governance infrastructure that boards, investors, and executives need to make informed decisions about AI. We answer three questions:- How well does this company govern AI? The Alpha Governance Rating (AGR) provides an independent, evidence-based assessment on a AAA-to-D scale.
- How exposed is this enterprise to AI governance risk? The Governance Materiality Index (GMI) quantifies AI governance exposure on a 1-100 scale.
- How prepared is this person to govern AI? The Alpha Governance Intelligence Quotient (AGIQ) measures individual director and executive readiness on a 0-200 scale.

The Alpha Standard at a glance
The Alpha Standard is our complete rating methodology. It operates in four phases:Phase 1: Alpha Materiality Profile
Assess AI governance materiality across four dimensions: operational dependency, strategic centrality, risk exposure, and stakeholder impact.
Phase 2: The Alpha 10
Score governance quality across 10 dimensions, weighted by company profile (Developer, Deployer, or Hybrid).
Phase 3: Alpha Integrity Screen
Apply negative screening with ceiling logic. Critical governance failures cap the maximum achievable grade.
Alpha measures governance effectiveness, not AI capability or strategy quality. A published policy earns partial credit. Evidence that the policy was applied in a real decision earns full credit. Evidence that governance held under competitive pressure earns the highest marks.
